Erik Pears Receives Huge Performance Bonus

Broncos.com is reporting that right tackle Erik Pears received the twelfth highest performance bonus in the NFL--a total of $255,454. Last season, Pears received the fifth highest performance bonus in the league (a similar amount). With Pears' outstanding play two years running he's earned the starting job at right tackle heading into '08. Our starting offensive line is currently as follows heading into training camp:

LT--Chris Kuper
LG--Ben Hamilton
C--Tom Nalen
RG--Montrae Holland
RT--Erik Pears

Bench--Ryan Harris, Tackle (2006 3rd round pick); Isaac Snell, G (undrafted); Casey Weigmann, C (acquired from Chiefs via free agency).

While Denver will likely add at least one more offensive lineman on draft day, offensive tackle is not a distinctive need. Actually, we are younger at tackle than at any other position.
